# Vuka OS 0.1 Dawn (Seven) — RC13

Status: **publishable release candidate**. All automated image, boot, persistence, Windows, installation, installed Seven and virtual-audio gates pass. Physical hardware acceptance remains explicitly separate.

The earlier `7c12177` image was rejected after two current-image Windows runs reproduced a Wine fresh-WoW64-prefix race before the 32-bit `kernel32.dll` plane was durable. The final clean image embeds the corrected launcher, which waits for both DLL planes and validates both 64-bit and 32-bit command processors. Independent host and builder hashing agree on the digest above. Exact ISO audit, BIOS, real OVMF/UEFI, two-boot persistence, complete exact-image Windows compatibility, blank-disk installation, ISO-detached boot, real SDDM login, installed Seven startup and duplex virtual audio all pass. The Windows run used the embedded launcher with `SOURCE_LAUNCHER_OVERRIDE=disabled`; every final acceptance container exited `0`.

Write the artifact to a USB flash drive as an image with Rufus or an equivalent raw-image writer. Do not extract the ISO onto the drive. Use `docs/USB-PERSISTENCE.md` for the tested persistence layout.

## Seven-first shell

RC13 replaces RC12's desktop-attached Seven experience with a Seven-first operating shell:

- Seven starts after login without a terminal window and is continuously supervised.
- The companion is default-on, frameless and visibly animated with breathing, sway, activity rings and live runtime states.
- The default hybrid face combines the canonical white-blonde robot sprite with a high-resolution face crop and coloured ASCII hologram derived locally from the desktop portrait.
- `llama3.2` and `llama3.2-vision` are automatically pulled in the background when absent; weights remain outside the ISO.
- Seven starts with voice, camera and robotics capability flags enabled.
- The Plasma panel auto-hides while Seven is healthy and returns if Seven or her supervisor stops.
- Plasma panel switching is asynchronous and best-effort: a slow or unavailable KDE D-Bus helper can never block or terminate Seven's supervised voice loop.
- Runtime and model-bootstrap logs are retained under `~/.local/state/vuka/seven/`.

## Verified in RC13

- Clean build, independent outer hash, source provenance, and all 836 embedded SHA-256 plus 836 MD5 entries.
- BIOS, UEFI and isohybrid boot records; real BIOS and OVMF/UEFI graphical boots.
- Vuka/Seven branding and visible Kali rolling attribution without personal or builder state leakage.
- BIOS live Plasma/X11 session with exactly one Seven runtime and companion, desktop context, application launch, pointer control and root-mediated evidence access.
- Two separate persistence boots recovering the same normal-user file from the live overlay.
- Automated installation to a fresh 48 GiB virtual disk, GRUB installation, and reboot from that disk with no ISO attached.
- Installed Vuka identity, graphical target, Seven 4.4.0, OpenCode 1.17.19, Ollama 0.31.2, Wine 10, unrestricted UID-0 extension and installed root/Ollama services.
- Real graphical SDDM login on the installed disk followed by exactly one supervised Seven `--talk` process, one companion window, and a listening state.
- Duplex HDA input/output presented through PipeWire; Seven's PyAudio environment enumerated input- and output-capable devices while the runtime stayed healthy.

## Important boundaries

- No Ollama model weights are embedded. Vuka deliberately downloads `llama3.2` and `llama3.2-vision` in the background after login when absent. This is disclosed, consumes roughly 10 GB and needs persistence or an installed system to survive reboot.
- The automated audio test proves software and virtual-device enumeration, not that a human heard speech or that a particular physical microphone works.
- Camera capture, robotics motion, Bluetooth, suspend/resume, HiDPI/multiple displays, hardware GPU performance, RDP/SMB peers and removable NTFS media remain physical-device gates.
- Wine improves compatibility but is not Windows. Kernel drivers, Microsoft Store/UWP software, many anti-cheat systems, current Microsoft 365 desktop and Adobe Creative Cloud remain unsupported or unreliable.
- Seven is intentionally not sandboxed. Its graphical process controls the user's X11 session and its Vuka extension has disclosed unrestricted UID-0 control through the local root service.

The independent Seven `4.4.0` wheel and repository remain unmodified. All new behavior is Vuka-owned integration code.
